General Anesthesia

General Anesthesia

General anesthesia is a controlled state of unconsciousness that eliminates awareness, movement, and discomfort during dental treatment. General anesthesia is provided by a board certified pediatric anesthesiologist in an approved dental day surgery facility.  It is a safe option which allows us to provide dental care for children unable to tolerate treatment in the chair.

  1. Very young children who have extensive dental needs
  2. Children who are extremely uncooperative, fearful, or anxious
  3. Children with special health care needs

Precautions are taken to protect your child during general anesthesia. Hospital trained personnel will monitor your child closely during the general anesthesia and recovery. The pediatric dentist will discuss the benefits and risks of general anesthesia and why it is recommended for your child.
